WGA West Staff Vote to Strike Amid Claims of Bad-Faith Negotiations
WGA West staffers, organized as the Pacific Northwest Staff Union, voted 82–18 to authorize a strike over alleged unfair labor practices and what they call surface bargaining by guild leadership. They’re pursuing a first contract that includes just-cause discipline, AI protections, remote-work provisions, sustainable workloads, living-wage pay, and a stronger wage scale, with no strike deadline set as negotiations with studios (AMPTP) resume ahead of the May 1 contract expiry; the WGA West has denied the allegations and says talks will continue.
