Former Biglaw Partner Admits Bankruptcy Fraud in Guilty Plea

Former Biglaw partner, John Roesser, has pleaded guilty to making false statements and submitting falsified records in his personal bankruptcy case. Roesser, who had a substantial income and tax obligations of over $3.8 million, allegedly failed to pay his taxes and resigned from the New York bar after misappropriating client funds. He filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and falsely claimed he was about to receive $10 million to pay his tax debts. Roesser now faces up to five years in prison and will be sentenced in January.

Suge Knight has accused Snoop Dogg of acquiring ownership of Death Row Records in an "illegal" manner, claiming that it was due to an alleged crime committed by the rapper and Michael "Harry-O" Harris. Knight questions whether Snoop is actually the true owner of the label and accuses Harris of committing bankruptcy fraud. He believes that ownership of many of Death Row's most popular releases will be transferred to him before it's all "said and done." Snoop acquired Death Row Records in a deal with MNRK Music Group in February 2022, but the terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Multiple Arrests Made in Bankruptcy Fraud Cases Involving Attorneys and Contractors

Former law firm partner, John Roesser, has been arrested for bankruptcy fraud after making false statements and submitting falsified records to the Bankruptcy Court and the IRS. Roesser owed the IRS millions of dollars in income taxes and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February 2022. He lied about receiving millions of dollars to keep his assets, including a multi-million-dollar residence and an Aston Martin sports car, while not paying his bills. Roesser has been charged with falsification of records in bankruptcy and false oaths and claims in bankruptcy, which carry maximum sentences of 20 and five years in prison, respectively.
