Knicks shore up backcourt with Jose Alvarado as injury woes bite
The Knicks acquired Jose Alvarado from the Pelicans ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline for Dalen Terry, two second-round picks, and cash, hoping to add reliable ball-handling depth behind Jalen Brunson. With Deuce McBride headed for core surgery and other injuries testing the rotation, New York’s backcourt is thinner than it appears, making Alvarado both a needed upgrade and a reminder of how fragile the team’s playoff push has become.
