Newborn abandoned outside MA home, police search for mother.
Police in Springfield, Massachusetts are searching for the mother of a newborn baby boy who was abandoned outside a home for two days in freezing temperatures. The baby was found by a couple who had returned from a weekend getaway and is now being treated at a hospital. The family who found him hopes to foster him. Massachusetts is a "Baby Safe Haven" state, meaning parents can legally surrender a newborn seven days or younger at a hospital, police station or fire department without facing any criminal prosecution.
