
YouTube's push for reliable news sources aims to become the go-to platform for breaking news
YouTube is introducing an "immersive watch page experience" on mobile to suggest more news content from "authoritative sources" when users watch news videos. The new watch page will display relevant longform videos, livestreams, podcasts, and Shorts videos beneath the currently playing content. YouTube will also invest $1.6 million to promote the creation of shortform news content for its Shorts service. This move comes as other platforms like Meta and X owner Elon Musk show reluctance towards promoting news or engaging with traditional media outlets.
