Surviving Against the Odds: Australian Man and Dog Rescued After Months Adrift at Sea
Australian sailor Timothy Lyndsay Shaddock, who was rescued after spending nearly three months at sea with his dog, Bella, revealed that he chose not to call for help despite being in contact with his family. Shaddock explained that he didn't feel his circumstances were dire enough to warrant a "Mayday" call and suggested that pride and other factors played a role in his decision. However, when his family warned him of an impending storm, he considered calling for help, but a Mexican tuna fishing boat's helicopter spotted him first. Shaddock's boat had been crippled by a storm, leaving him and Bella to survive on a diet of raw fish. They were eventually rescued and brought to land in Mexico.
