The Feisty Italian Sports Car That Defied Ferrari
The ATS 2500 GT, a rare Italian sports car, was born out of a dispute within the Ferrari camp known as the "Palace Revolt" of 1961. Former Ferrari employees, including Giotto Bizzarrini, formed Automobili Turismo e Sport (ATS) to challenge Enzo Ferrari. The ATS 2500 GT, unveiled in 1963, was the first Italian mid-engine rear-wheel drive sports car and featured advanced features for its time, such as four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension. With a powerful DOHC 2.5-liter V8 engine, it boasted a top speed of 160 mph.
