US track and field athletes will have around 50 pieces to choose from for their Olympic uniforms, including a high-cut leotard that has sparked controversy. Nike consulted with athletes, including world champion sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson and Olympic gold medalist Athing Mu, during the design process. Athletes like Paralympian Femita Ayanbeku and sprinter Britton Wilson have criticized the skimpy uniform, while defending athletes like Katie Moon argue that women have multiple uniform options and can also choose styles made for men. This isn't the first time Nike has faced uniform complaints, as several MLB players also criticized the fit of the new Nike Vapor Premier jerseys.
