ICE imposes curfew and deportation for migrant families failing asylum screening.
ICE is set to implement a new program called Family Expedited Removal Management (FERM) that will subject migrant families who illegally cross the border to seek asylum in the US to GPS monitoring, a curfew, and deportation if they fail to appear for an asylum screening. The program will be implemented in Newark, Baltimore, Washington, and Chicago. The move comes as the Biden administration prepares for an end to Title 42, the Trump-era public health order that allowed authorities to expel migrants.
