The Astor Place Cube, a beloved sculpture in New York City, was removed for repairs after its spinning mechanism separated from the base and it was found to be leaning. The refurbishing, estimated to cost $100,000, will be paid for by the estate of the sculptor who created the cube in 1967, Tony Rosenthal. The cube is expected to return in midsummer after repairs at a foundry in Connecticut.
