"Museum Employee Fired for Hanging Personal Artwork in Gallery, Prompting Police Investigation"
A German art museum worker and aspiring artist was fired and banned from the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich after he smuggled in and hung up one of his own paintings in the gallery, hoping for an "artistic breakthrough." The 51-year-old employee, who considered himself a freelance artist, mounted his painting in an empty passageway, but it was quickly discovered by museum staff. The museum did not disclose the painting's subject or style to avoid encouraging imitators, and the employee's actions did not receive positive feedback from gallery visitors.
