'Squid Game' Sparks Surge in Global Demand for Asian Streaming Content
The global demand for Asian language movies and TV shows has increased, with Korean content being the most popular, thanks to the success of Netflix's "Squid Game" and other Korean series. Streaming services like Netflix and Rakuten Viki have made it easier for U.S. viewers to access global content. While supply of such content outstripped demand, the gap between the two is narrowing. Netflix plans to invest $2.5 billion over the next four years to produce more Korean shows and movies. Other streaming services like Max are also increasing and highlighting Asian content.
