Bay Area movie theaters close after decades-long run.
The Albany Twin, an 88-year-old movie theater in the Bay Area, is set to permanently close on Thursday, according to a spokesperson for Landmark Theatres. The closure comes after the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted not to protect the Castro Theatre's orchestra-level seats, and the Regal UA Berkeley shuttered in January. Landmark Theatres plans to expand its footprint, adding an unspecified number of new theater locations, but the Albany Twin's closure leaves just three Landmark theaters in the Bay Area.
