Sonos Arc Soundbars Still Plagued by Unresolved "Pop of Death" Issue
Originally Published 2 years ago — by Ars Technica

Sonos has been unable to fix a recurring issue with its Arc soundbars, which produce a loud popping noise resembling a gunshot and then lose audio until power-cycled. Users have been complaining about this problem for over two years, with numerous threads on Sonos' community forum and discussions on Reddit. Sonos has acknowledged the issue and stated that it occurs when the Arc is connected to certain combinations of streaming devices and TVs while playing Dolby Atmos content. The company is actively working to find the root cause and develop a solution, but there is no clear timeframe for a fix. In the meantime, Sonos has advised users to disable Dolby Atmos or use Dolby Digital 5.1 instead.
