Strong and damaging winds have caused power outages across BrightRidge, Appalachian Power, BVU Authority, and Greenville Energy Authority's service areas. As of 6:20 p.m., around 16% of BrightRidge's customers, or 13,000, are without power, with Fall Branch, Sulphur Springs, Jonesborough, Harmony, Southeast JC, and Pinecrest being the hardest hit areas. Appalachian Power is reporting outages in Sullivan County, TN, Washington County, VA, and Smyth County, VA. Customers can report outages via the BrightRidge Smarthub app or by calling (423) 952-5000.
