Google Photos is replacing its custom share sheet implementation with a native one on Android 14. The new share sheet allows users to select multiple images, preview and edit them using the Markup tool, and access various Google Photos actions such as creating links, sending in photos, and adding to albums. The update is currently rolling out on Pixel phones running Android 14.
Android 14 will bring several new tweaks to the share sheet, including app-specific actions that will appear at the top of the share menu, tweaks to content previews, and the ability to include or exclude text in certain cases. The share sheet will also become a standalone app that can be updated independently of the operating system. These changes appear in Android 14’s second developer preview, but there’s no guarantee that they would all make it across the finish line for the final release later this year.
