Mainz Soccer Team Fires Player for Controversial Israel-Palestine Social Media Posts
German soccer team Mainz has terminated the contract of player Anwar El Ghazi after he shared social media posts related to the Israel-Hamas conflict. Prosecutors have opened an investigation into El Ghazi for "disturbing public peace by condoning criminal acts in conjunction with incitement to hatred." The player had previously been suspended but was allowed to return after distancing himself from the statements. However, he later reiterated his position, leading to his immediate termination.
