The attack sparked anti-immigrant riots in the city, but many people are now expressing gratitude towards Benicio for his heroic act. The fundraiser, titled "Buy Caio Benicio a pint," has attracted over 31,000 donations, with many contributors giving the average price of a pint. Another campaign has also raised over €220,000 for the injured victims. Benicio, who was working for Deliveroo at the time, said he acted on instinct when he saw a man stabbing a small girl.
