Twitch Implements Anti-Harassment Measures to Block Banned Users from Watching Streams
Twitch has introduced a new feature that allows streamers to prevent banned users from watching their livestreams, addressing a long-standing issue in the platform's anti-harassment measures. The feature can be enabled in the moderation settings of the Creator Dashboard, and it also applies to users who are blocked by streamers. However, it currently only applies to logged-in users and does not include IP blocking. Twitch plans to expand the feature to prevent unwanted viewers from accessing VODs, highlights, and clips in the future. The platform has been implementing stronger moderation tools to combat harassment, including ban evasion detection and banned list swaps. This move comes as Twitch aims to provide a layered approach to safety and address targeted harassment, particularly towards marginalized communities.
