The San Francisco Giants have traded outfielder Mitch Haniger and pitcher Anthony DeSclafani, along with cash considerations, to the Seattle Mariners for starting pitcher Robbie Ray, the 2021 AL Cy Young Award winner. Ray is recovering from Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss the start of the 2024 season. Haniger, returning to Seattle where he previously played, has been limited by injuries in recent years. DeSclafani also had injury issues last season. Additionally, the Mariners made a separate trade, acquiring outfielder Luke Raley from the Rays in exchange for infielder José Caballero.
