"Rediscovering the Iconic Fashion Designer Behind Jackie Kennedy's Style"
Ann Lowe, a Black fashion designer, who was integral to the construction of America's fashion ideas, is finally getting recognition for her work. Lowe designed the wedding dress worn by Jacqueline Bouvier when she married John F. Kennedy in 1953, but went uncredited at the time. Now, Lowe is the subject of a new exhibition at The Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library, showcasing her elegant and feminine designs. The exhibition aims to highlight Lowe's contributions to American fashion and challenge the perception that creativity in fashion only resides in Europe.
