
Turkish Soccer Club President Arrested for Violent Attack on Referee
Faruk Koca, the president of Turkish soccer club Ankaragucu, has been arrested for punching a referee in the face and threatening to kill him after a match. The incident occurred during Ankaragucu's home game against Rizespor, which resulted in a 1-1 draw. The referee, Halil Umut Meler, was also kicked while lying on the pitch. Two other suspects have been remanded in custody, and the Turkish Football Federation has suspended all leagues in response to the incident. FIFA President Gianni Infantino condemned the violence, stating that such events have no place in the sport or society.
