NASA's Perseverance Rover has captured a stunning 360-degree image of an ancient river delta in Mars' Jezero Crater, using 993 individual images to create a 2.38 billion pixel panorama. The image reveals different rock layers and potential biosignatures, offering insights into the planet's history and the possibility of past microbial life. Scientists are particularly interested in a rock formation that could be lava flow, as returning a sample to Earth could help determine the timeline of water flow on Mars. Perseverance, which has been on Mars for over 1,000 Earth days, will soon explore areas outside the crater to study even older geological features.
