Rescuers have begun the operation to free an American scientist, Mark Dickey, who fell ill and became trapped over 3,000 feet inside the Morca cave in Turkey. Dickey, who has been stuck since September 2, is being transported on a stretcher and is expected to take breaks at camps along the passages. Rescuers from Europe, including a Hungarian doctor who treated him with IV fluids and blood, are assisting in the rescue of Dickey, who was on an international trip to map the cave.
