Luis Gil Secures AL Rookie of the Year, Eyes Further Growth
Yankees pitcher Luis Gil has been named the American League Rookie of the Year by the Baseball Writers Association of America. Despite a career disrupted by Tommy John surgery, Gil made a strong comeback, posting a 3.50 ERA over 29 starts. His early-season performance was particularly impressive, securing his spot in the Yankees' rotation. Colton Cowser of the Orioles and Austin Wells, Gil's teammate, finished second and third, respectively, in the voting.
