Tesla Faces Labor Woes in Nordic Countries
Hydro Extrusions, a supplier for Tesla's Giga Berlin plant, has been permitted to reduce its workforce due to an ongoing union strike by Swedish union IF Metall. The strike has halted deliveries to Tesla for almost two weeks, causing concerns for the company's business with the EV maker. Hydro Extrusions CEO Jonas Bjuhr expressed worries about losing Tesla as a customer and the potential impact on the growing market for aluminum parts for electric cars. While only about 20 employees are currently covered by the strike, the company has been given permission to reduce its headcount if necessary. IF Metall argues that Hydro Extrusions willingly took a risk by doing business with a company without a collective agreement, targeting Tesla's factory in Berlin to increase pressure on the American group.
