Bungie has indefinitely delayed the release of its upcoming multiplayer shooter Marathon, originally scheduled for September 23, 2025, to allow more time for testing and improvements based on player feedback, including enhancing AI, visuals, storytelling, and adding new features like proximity chat, following controversy over stolen artwork in test builds.
Smite 2, a standalone sequel to the popular multiplayer online battle arena game Smite, has been announced at the 2024 Smite World Championship. The game is being rebuilt from scratch using Unreal Engine 5, with new gameplay improvements, visual upgrades, and five new playable gods. The alpha playtest for Smite 2 is scheduled for Spring 2024, and the game will feature full crossplay on PC, Steam Deck, Xbox Series X and S, and PlayStation 5.
Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks, a free-to-play, class-based multiplayer car combat racing game, inspired by a 2018 miniatures game, is coming to Windows PC, with an alpha playtest hitting Steam on Thursday. Players will battle each other in a variety of rigs in multiple game types, including Chase Mode and Convoy Mode. Developed by Caged Element and published by Plaion, Speed Freeks is "a bit scrappy, ramshackle and bolted together," so expect some bugs if you get into the alpha test.
