"Red River Rivalry Secured at Cotton Bowl Through 2036 with Renovations Planned"
The University of Oklahoma and University of Texas have agreed to extend the contract for the Allstate Red River Rivalry football game at the Cotton Bowl through 2036. As part of the agreement, the City of Dallas will invest $140 million in a two-year renovation project for the Cotton Bowl Stadium, including widening concourses, adding escalators, renovating concessions and restrooms, and increasing hospitality areas. The first phase of renovations will be completed by September 2026, with the second phase finishing by September 2034. The historic rivalry game has been played at the Cotton Bowl since 1929 and will continue to be a tradition for both schools and fans.
