Arkansas-based bike brand Allied Cycle Works has released its first mountain bike, the BC40, which combines the pedaling efficiency of an XC-oriented machine with the geometry of a longer-travel trail bike. The BC40 features a carbon fiber frame, short suspension travel, and a progressive long-low-and-slack geometry. It offers excellent pedaling efficiency, balanced handling, and a gorgeous design. However, it has so-so small-bump compliance and limited bottle clearance. The BC40 is available as a frame or complete build, with prices starting at $4,350.
