The Nashville Predators have signed defenseman Alexandre Carrier to a one-year, $2.5 million contract. Carrier, who was named to the NHL's All-Rookie Team in the 2021-22 season, recorded 30 points and led rookie defensemen in plus-minus. He has played in 144 career NHL games and has also been named an AHL All-Star twice.
Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren of the Detroit Pistons were both named to the 2023 NBA All-Rookie second team, marking the fifth time a Pistons player has made an All-Rookie team since 2020. Ivey averaged 16.3 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game, while Duren led all rookies in rebounding with 8.9 per game. The Pistons are guaranteed a top-five pick in the upcoming NBA draft.
Paolo Banchero, Jalen Williams, and Walker Kessler are among the players named to the NBA's All-Rookie First Team. Banchero was a unanimous first-team selection and Rookie of the Year, while Williams and Kessler secured 99 and 95 first-team votes, respectively.
