Automattic Acquires Texts.com, Expanding Messaging App Portfolio
Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, has acquired Texts, an all-in-one messaging app that combines services like iMessage, WhatsApp, Slack DMs, and more into a single interface. Texts is currently available as a desktop client on Mac, Windows, and Linux, with an iPhone version in development. The app offers end-to-end encryption and features such as ChatGPT-powered summaries, draft responses, Gmail-style labels, and keyboard shortcuts. Texts is monetized through a subscription model starting at $12.50/month and is loosely invite-only, with a free 30-day trial available.
