Airbnb Revenue Plunges in Popular U.S. Cities

Claims of an Airbnb "collapse" in Austin have been disputed by data firm AirDNA, which argues that the decline in reservations and revenue is much smaller than reported by Reventure Consulting. Airbnb, as a publicly traded company, does not provide its data to third parties but stated that more guests are traveling on their platform than ever before, with revenue growing by 20% in Q1 2023. AirDNA's data shows a year-over-year increase in demand nationally, but with supply outpacing demand, occupancy decreased by 3.1% over the last year. They predict a slight decrease in short-term rental revenue in Austin but expect it to be offset by a rise in demand over the next year.
