Cubs Reshuffle Roster: Alzolay DFA'd, Caissie and Cowles Added
The Chicago Cubs have designated pitcher Adbert Alzolay for assignment following his Tommy John surgery, which will sideline him until late 2025. Alzolay, who served as the Cubs' closer for parts of the past two seasons, struggled in 2024 before his injury. Over his six-year tenure with the Cubs, he recorded a 12-25 record with a 4.04 ERA. In a related move, the Cubs added outfielder Owen Caissie and infielder Ben Cowles to their 40-man roster, while also designating outfielder Brennen Davis for assignment.
