Amazon Web Services (AWS) has laid off employees including managers, engineers, recruiters, and cybersecurity consultants. The layoffs impacted relatively new employees who joined the company within the past few years. AWS CEO Adam Selipsky sent a memo to employees discussing the "difficult decision" to eliminate roles within AWS, citing the need to focus on top priorities that matter most to customers and move the needle for the business. Earlier this month, AWS confirmed that Amazon's latest 9,000-employee layoff round would impact a "small, single-digit percentage" of AWS employees.
