"Amtrak Expands High-Speed Service with New Platform at Penn Station"
Amtrak unveiled a new platform, Platform 5, at Baltimore's Penn Station, which will begin services in the spring and is part of a $150 million redevelopment project. The renovated platform will provide more space and improved accessibility, including pedestrian pathways, new elevators, escalators, and enhanced ADA accessibility. This is one of two new platforms being built at the station, with the second one scheduled for completion in the Fall. Baltimore Penn Station is the eighth busiest station on the Amtrak network, with over 3 million passengers annually, and has seen a 29% increase in Amtrak ridership over the past year.
