US Navy Plane Overshoots Runway, Lands Safely in Hawaii Bay
A US Navy P-8A plane overshot a runway and landed in a bay in Hawaii, but all nine people on board escaped without injury. The Coast Guard responded but rescue operations were called off as everyone had already been rescued. The incident occurred at a Marine base on Kaneohe Bay, and the plane was resting just offshore. The P-8A is used for submarine hunting and reconnaissance and shares many parts with the Boeing 737 commercial jet.
