
Access-A-Ride Driver Charged in Fatal Chinatown Collision with Elderly Woman
An Access-A-Ride driver has been charged with two misdemeanors after fatally striking an 88-year-old woman in Chinatown. The driver failed to yield as the woman crossed the street, resulting in the collision. Access-A-Ride vehicles, owned by the MTA but operated by contractors, provide transportation for individuals with disabilities or medical issues. The driver, Michael Broughton, was charged with failure to yield and failure to use due care. The MTA expressed condolences to the victim's family and pledged full cooperation with the investigation.
