Abode has introduced its first smart door lock, the Abode Lock, a Wi-Fi-powered retrofit lock that offers digital access through an app, fingerprint reader, and keypad. Priced at $159.99, with a launch special of $129.99, the lock promises a 12-month battery life with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It supports up to 10 unique users, with five fingerprint registrations each and PINs for up to 10 users, and can be remotely locked and unlocked using the app without additional hardware or monthly fees. While it works with Google Home and Amazon Alexa, there is no support for Matter or Apple Home / Home Key.
Abode users can now control and automate Google Nest products natively inside the Abode app, thanks to the Google Nest Device Access Program API. The integration works with all Google Nest Thermostats, Nest cameras and doorbells, and the Google Nest Hub Max. Users can set their alarm system to arm automatically when their Nest Thermostat switches to “away” and have their Google Nest Cam with floodlight send an alert to a professional monitoring service if it spots someone lurking on their property.
Abode has partnered with Google Nest to allow for direct integration of Nest products with Abode's home security systems. This integration allows customers to use Nest cameras and thermostats directly within the Abode app and even use the thermostat for routines in conjunction with other Abode gear. The integration is compatible with a range of Nest products, including legacy devices. This comes as Google has shut down its Nest Secure system. The integration starts rolling out today to Abode customers.
