Wendi McLendon-Covey Speaks Out on Jeff Garlin's Departure from 'The Goldbergs'

Wendi McLendon-Covey, co-star of ABC sitcom "The Goldbergs," said in an interview that Jeff Garlin's exit from the show was "a long time coming" due to complaints made over a long period of time. Garlin was fired from the show in December 2021 after HR investigations into his alleged misconduct on set. McLendon-Covey requested not to discuss the topic further, stating that she was exhausted by it. The show's production team used off-camera dialogue, unused takes, and previously shot images of Garlin to keep his character on the show in a reduced capacity for the remainder of the ninth season. Garlin's character was killed off in the show's 10th and final season.
