Tencent shuts down "AAA multiplayer" studio Team Kaiju

Tencent has reportedly shut down Team Kaiju, a subsidiary of TiMi Studio Group, without any formal announcement. The studio's website is no longer accessible, and its LinkedIn page leads to an error message. Team Kaiju was working on an AAA multiplayer game and was co-founded by former Halo 4 design director Scott Warner and Battlefield veteran Rosi Zagorcheva. The reasons for the closure are unknown, but shortly after the news broke, Tencent filed a trademark for "Team Jade" in Europe.

PlayStation adds Firewalk Studios to its family of developers.

PlayStation has acquired Firewalk Studios, the team behind an upcoming "first original AAA multiplayer game" for PlayStation. The companies did not disclose the price of the acquisition. Firewalk Studios has been in a publishing partnership with PlayStation and ProbablyMonsters since 2021. The acquisition comes as PlayStation continues to fight against Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
