Washington State Captain Among Six Airmen Killed in Iraqi KC-135 Crash
The Pentagon identified six U.S. airmen who died when a KC-135 Stratotanker crashed over western Iraq; among the victims is Capt. Ariana G. Savino, 31, of Covington, Washington, from the 99th Air Refueling Squadron. The others hailed from Alabama, Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. The crash is under investigation and was not due to hostile or friendly fire. Savino, who earned her wings in 2025, helped manage the unit’s flying-hour program and related duties.
