98.5 The Sports Hub host Fred Toucher is facing backlash for making disparaging comments about basketball legend Bill Walton the day after Walton's death. Toucher called Walton a "phony hippie" and replayed a 2010 interview where he hung up on Walton. Toucher later acknowledged the poor timing of his remarks but has been heavily criticized on social media and by other sports radio hosts.
Fred Toucher, co-host of "Toucher & Rich" on 98.5 The Sports Hub, returned to the show after spending five days at a detox facility for alcohol addiction. Toucher voluntarily checked himself in after sending out concerning tweets over the weekend. He is now putting in four hours a day of intense therapy for alcohol and anxiety and taking his recovery very seriously. Toucher had previously missed extended time on the show due to the loss of his voice and undergoing rehabilitation for alcohol addiction in 2020.
