BMW has unveiled the Skytop Concept at Villa d'Este, a two-seater coupe inspired by past models like the Z8 and 503. It features a 617-horsepower 4.4-liter V-8 engine from the M8 Competition and a design reminiscent of the 8 Series. The interior and many components are production-based, but the unique roll bar and manually removable roof set it apart. Despite its striking design, the Skytop is unlikely to enter production.

Pierce Brosnan received a BMW 8 Series Coupe as a gift following the success of Goldeneye, and was caught doing 120 mph in Idaho, but was let off with a warning. The car's smoothness was his excuse for speeding, and the 8 Series was engineered to automatically raise the windows after reaching 100 mph to reduce wind noise. The 850 Ci superseded the 850i, and Brosnan's model came with a more powerful 5.4-liter engine.
