Seagate has released a 4TB Xbox Storage Expansion Card, the largest and most expensive yet, priced at nearly as much as an Xbox Series X, offering substantial storage for high-end gaming but at a hefty premium.
Western Digital unveiled new SD cards, including a 4TB SDUC card, a 2TB SDXC card, and a 256GB SD Express-supported card, with improved speeds and capacities. The 4TB SDUC card is a significant leap in storage capacity, utilizing the SDUC specs and hinting at future potential for even larger capacities. These new SD cards are expected to be available in 2025, but pricing details have not been disclosed.
Western Digital plans to release the first 4TB SD card in 2025, targeting media and entertainment workflows. The card will support high-resolution video formats and use the Ultra High Speed-1 (UHS-1) bus interface, with theoretical transfer rates of up to 104 MB per second. While this advancement is exciting for professionals with high-storage needs, concerns about SanDisk's reliability due to reported failures of their SSDs may lead some customers to consider waiting for another brand to make the leap to 4TB.
