Ford flags block heater risk, recalls 119,000 vehicles to prevent fires
Ford is recalling about 119,000 vehicles with 2.0L engines (including various 2013–2019 Escape, 2013–2018 Focus, 2016–2018 Focus, 2019–2024 Explorer, and 2015–2016 MKC) after engine block heaters can crack and leak coolant, potentially sparking an under‑hood fire when plugged in. Owners should stop using the heater and not plug it in until repairs. Ford will replace the heater or remove it and install a threaded plug free of charge; recalls begin with letters on Feb. 13 and repairs are expected by April.
