Google Fiber will offer residential 20 Gig service for $250 per month in select cities, including Kansas City, North Carolina's Triangle Region, Arizona, and Iowa. The ISP aims to make high-speed internet accessible and believes the 20 Gig offering, priced $70 more than its 1 Gig plan, will enable innovators to push boundaries. The service will allow multiple devices to simultaneously utilize multi-gig speeds. Google Fiber is rolling out Nokia's 25G PON technology and will provide a custom Wi-Fi 7 router, extender, and special Optical Network Terminal (ONT) for early access customers.

Google Fiber Expands and Seeks 20-Gig Testers in Multiple Markets

Google Fiber has signed a license agreement with Logan, Utah, to deploy a fiber broadband network there, with construction expected to begin this year and service to be offered in 2024. The company is also seeking eight organizations in Austin, Huntsville, Raleigh-Durham, and Salt Lake City to test its 20 Gig service, which is expected to be useful for organizations that download or upload massive datasets, conduct research that needs significantly more bandwidth, or work on future-focused technology that needs a lot of bandwidth. Google Fiber already offers 5 Gbps and 8 Gbps service in some areas.
