Three Iranian female journalists have been awarded the UNESCO World Press Freedom Prize for their commitment to truth and accountability. Niloufar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi broke the news of the death of Mahsa Amini, which sparked months-long protests across Iran. Narges Mohammadi, a prominent activist and journalist, has been repeatedly detained and imprisoned by authorities. The three winners have been detained in Iran's Evin Prison since September and have faced charges of collaborating with the United States and creating "propaganda against the system."
