"Russia's Iconic Landmark Secures UNESCO World Heritage Status"

The astronomical observatories of Kazan Federal University in Russia have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The site includes the Kazan Observatory, built in 1837, and the Engelhardt Astronomical Observatory. Other sites added to the list include Ethiopia's Bale Mountains National Park, the Maison Carrée of Nîmes in France, Gordion in Turkey, Gaya Tumuli in South Korea, and the Viking-Age Ring Fortresses in Denmark. The committee is reviewing remaining nominations, while two sites in Ukraine were added to the World Heritage in Danger List due to the threat of destruction caused by the Russian offensive.
