"Mass Protests in Kenya Against Femicide"

Hundreds of people are protesting in major Kenyan cities against the increasing cases of femicide and violence against women, following a 2022 survey revealing that at least one in three Kenyan women have experienced physical violence. The protesters are demanding that men take responsibility for their actions and that the government declare femicide a national emergency, as more than 500 cases of femicide were recorded in Kenya between 2016 and 2023. Despite robust laws against gender-based violence, most perpetrators go unpunished, and prosecutions often drag on for years in court.
