Somali militants kill 5 in Kenyan border village

Suspected militants from al-Shabab attacked a Kenyan border village, killing five people and raising concerns over increasing attacks in the country. The death toll over the last month has now surpassed 30 people, including soldiers, police reservists, and civilians. The village borders Witu Forest, where al-Shabab militants have created hideouts and held abductees. Kenya's President William Ruto suggested that the country's troops might stay in Somalia into next month, past the date of withdrawal, to send a powerful message to al-Shabab.
